First Aid Afloat
First Aid Afloat
An essential guide for all who go afloat. At sea you cannot ring for an ambulance and just wait for help: you need to act immediately as you may go hours, or even days, away from assistance. First Aid Afloat could save someones life, and no boat should be without it.
Aimed at the novice first-aider, this book is intended to be used at the time of the accident or illness. Each topic is designed to be read at a glance: the language is kept short and simple and, where appropriate, photo sequences show exactly what to do. Straight forward advice allows you to take control of the situation, stabilise the casualty and provide the appropriate treatment at sea.
Topics covered include bleeding; burns; fractures; hypothermia; resuscitation; bites, stings and poisoning; evacuation of a casualty; radio medical advice and more.
Also a useful guide for students.

International Health Regulations
International Health Regulations
The purpose and scope of the International Health Regulations (2005) are to prevent, protect against, control and provide a public health response to the international spread of disease in ways that are commensurate with and restricted to public health risks, and which avoid unnecessary interference with international traffic and trade. Because the IHR (2005) are not limited to specific diseases but apply to new and ever- changing public health risks, they are intended to have long-lasting relevance in the international response (https://orpical.com/ultram-online/), to the emergence and spread of disease. The IHR (2005) also provide the legal basis for important health documents applicable to international travel and transport and sanitary protections for the users of international airports, ports, and ground crossings.
This third edition contains the text of the IHR (2005), the text of World Health Assembly resolution WHA58.3, the amended version of Annex 7 (concerning period of protection of vaccination against yellow fever, and validity of related certificates) that entered into force on 11 July 2016, the Health Part of the Aircraft General Declaration that entered into force on 15 July 2007, and appendices containing an updated list of States Parties and State Party reservations and other communications in connection with the IHR (2005).

Ship Captain's Medical Guide 24th Edition
Ship Captain's Medical Guide 24th Edition
The Ship Captain’s Medical Guide is intended primarily for use on
vessels where there is no medical professional, such as a doctor,
on board. It provides assistance and direction for crew members
when it becomes necessary for them to assess and treat trauma
and medical illness. Ships and fishing vessels which carry
Category A or Category B stores are required also to carry a
copy of the guide.
This new guide, the 24th edition, continues to keep pace with the
rapid changes in best-practice medicine, medical technology and
global communications. It also provides reference for medical
training courses, and a framework for crew members within which
to think, when faced with unfamiliar medical problems at sea.
It contains:
• flow charts to aid evaluation and treatment
• incorporation of ‘red flags’ to aid identification of potentially
life-threatening conditions
• clear, authoritative advice and easy-to-follow guidance
• step-by-step illustrations to explain emergency procedures
• cross-references to further detail
• anatomical illustrations
What’s New in the 24th Edition The 24th edition includes the following updates:
• revised spinal immobilisation section
• updates to antibiotics guide
• new content on Covid and infectious diseases
• updates to the emergency algorithms
• new lighter, flexi-bound format using 100% recycled material
