The Nautical Almanac contains astronomical information to support bridge crews in routine and emergency celestial navigation, as well as the calculation of daylight hours and mandatory gyro checks. It is carried on every ship within the Royal Navy and is at the core of celestial navigational training courses worldwide.
The Nautical Almanac includes:
Tabulations of the Sun, Moon, navigational planets and stars to help determine positions at sea when using a sextant.

List V is published annually, as per the Radio Regulations this publication shall be provided to all ship stations for which a Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) installation is required by international agreement.
List V incorporates a searchable database of over nine hundred thousand ships.
It contains details of Maritime Mobile Service Identities for search and rescue aircraft, coast stations, and groups of ship stations. It also provides contact information for accounting authorities and notifying administrations.
New edition released annually in April or May.

Latest News
May Bank Holiday Office Closures
Due to the upcoming Bank Holiday weekends during May in the UK, our offices will be closed on the following dates:
- Monday 4th May
- Monday 25th May
During this period, we will be available for local (collection from our offices only) out of hours calls dependent on the availability of staff. An out of hours call out fee will apply. Call out fees are as follows:
- Bank Holiday Monday 4th & 25th May £80.00
- Saturday and Sundays of these weekends £40.00
If you require to contact us urgently over the Bank Holiday weekend then please call our out of hours mobile on 07843 103000. E-mails will be monitored sporadically during this time and any non-urgent items will be dealt with on our return to the office.
